Agent stayed up until 3.30 in the morning to finish To Defy a King. She said:
'I love the manuscript. I felt bereft when it stopped. Wow oh wow.'
Now, obviously she is my agent and I'm her client, but even so, I am wiping my brow with relief that it has passed the first hurdle now it's out in the world. I still have to hear from editors - they are reading it this weekend.
I guess my News blog is the only place where I trumpet blow. I don't like doing it more broadly online because the 'look at me' stuff gets stale very quickly and I'd rather talk history, writing and books in more general terms than my latest puff - so I confine the 'me' stuff to here!
Oh, and here's the video trailer!

To Defy a King - finished and handed in!
A note to say that I handed in my story of Mahelt Marshal and Hugh Bigod today. To Defy a King is now officially into the next stage of production i.e. out of the writer's hand and heading (6 drafts later!) into the world.

TRAILER OF THE WILD HUNT
My first published novel, the award winning The Wild Hunt is re-issued this next week. I've given it a thorough re-edit and it's now available from online sellers and in most UK bookshops. To mark the event, I've made one of my trailers.
In other news my contracts from Sourcebooks have arrived, so that's another step on the way to
USA paperback and electronic publication.
In the not too distance future I hope to have some news about UK appearances at library events next year, so watch this space. Arrangements are being sorted at the moment.

WELCOME TO MY NEWS BLOG
WELCOME ALL!
I've started this section as a place to inform readers of breaking news, updates and general information about the novels. It serves a different purpose to my main blog Living The History, which contains more detailed articles and notes about the writing process. Url here:
http://livingthehistoryelizabethchadwick.blogspot.com/
The piece you're reading now is more about news flashes and quick-flick details.
SO, WHAT'S NEW OR NEED TO KNOW?
I am currently the guest author at the Book Club Forum. So if you want to drop by and ask questions, please do so! You'll need to register, but it's free and they seem like a friendly bunch. Url here: http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/
There's a chance to win a paperback set of my 3 Marshal novels, including the new paperback A Place Beyond Courage. Also a copy of The Time of Singing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm delighted to say that THE TIME OF SINGING is now on its final proof read. I've been researching and taking a break in Norfolk and have returned to find the proofs waiting my attention. There are now 2 extracts posted at my extracts blog. url here:
http://elizabethchadwicks.blogspot.com/
It has a gorgeous new cover, which you can see on the extracts blog and also on my cover blog blog here:
http://coveringthestory.blogspot.com/
The publication date is October 2nd in hardcover. They usually sell out fast as hardcover print runs are not large. I know many readers prefer to wait for the paperback, but just to make everyone aware that if a copy is needed for Christmas, do it sooner rather than later!
Trailer here:
Here I am with the dog at Castle Rising in Norfolk during the week of 7th - 14th June O8 while researching. The castle notice board said dogs had to be on leads. Didn't say that humans had to be attached!
A PLACE BEYOND COURAGE is published in paperback on October 16th. Sainsbury's supermarkets are keen to get behind it at the moment and it will be available from most bookstores and Amazon.co.uk Also The Book Depository will supply it anywhere in the world, free of postage, so if you hale from the USA or Australia it's well worth checking this out. I am currently working (when I can find the time she says!) on a new novel about William Marshal's eldest daughter, Mahelt, and her match with Hugh Bigod, eldest son of Roger Bigod and Ida de Tosney, stars of THE TIME OF SINGING.
I think that's all I need to say at the moment, but I'll update the page regularly with items that may be of use or interest to readers.
Back to the coalface!
Elizabeth C.
