Bits

It's been a while since I've posted here - mainly because I have a quick news update section on the front of my website now. But I want to keep this one going too. It is now official. The title of the novel about the Empress Matilda and Queen Adeliza is going to be LADY OF THE ENGLISH.
It is also unofficial but highly likely that my next two novels are going to be about Eleanor of Aquitaine, and they will be up close and personal. It's been a project I have had in mind for some time and have kept being sidetracked. Watch this space for an announcement later this year.

The Scarlet Lion at the Apple Store

I have been told by the CEO of Sourcebooks that THE SCARLET LION is now available at the Apple store. I'm not that savvy with e-readers at the moment, but I'm just passing it on for anyone who is interested.

USA cover of FOR THE KING'S FAVOR

I am trying to spread the word that THE TIME OF SINGING will be known as FOR THE KING'S FAVOR in the USA. I just wanted to post the different cover too. I think it's rather beautiful and it does reference a couple of scenes in the novel where Ida de Tosney, the heroine, is standing in a corridor. The model who posed for the shot was pregnant at the time, which also references my heroine.
Coming to the USA on September 1st.

One and the Same.

Soundtrack for To Defy A King

A note to say I've put up the soundtrack for To Defy a King. There are no explanations at the moment in case of spoilers, but each track does have its place in the novel - either as part of the storyline, inspiration for a scene, or comment on a particular character. I suppose one small snippet I could give away at this stage is that the Seether song Fake It is about the barons gathering to discuss the Magna Carta and certain family divisions between fathers and sons over the issue. Anyway, here it is. A preliminary preview of the music that helped me write To Defy A King.

Sneak preview of book cover

I thought readers of my News blog might like to have a sneak preview of the cover of For The King's Favor (titled The Time of Singing in the UK) being published in the USA by Sourcebooks in the autumn. I think it suits the subject matter really well. The dark corridor reference part of the story arc, and the novel is about a young mistress of Henry II who bore him a son. The model in the photoshoot was pregnant at the time, so it kind of ties in too.

South Shields Library

I'll be appearing at South Shields Library on Saturday February 13th from around 1pm until around 4pm. The RNA is running an afternoon session concerned with our 50th anniversary anthology Loves Me Loves Me Not. I have a short story about John Marshal's washer woman among the contributions! There's going to be a panel, and then the attending authors will split off to give their own talks. I'm going to be speaking about my research methods in the time alotted. Other authors include Tyne & Wear local author Benita Brown, Choc-lit author Sue Moorcroft and warm modern family-style writer Judy Astley.
Should be a good day!

THE LEOPARD UNLEASHED

A note to say that The Leopard Unleashed has arrived at my PC ready for me to re-edit. We've also started thinking about the cover, so it's a bigger speck on the horizon than it was!

Bits and pieces

I've just found the trial covers that didn't make it to the jacket of The Running Vixen - How interesting!
http://www.rostant.com/romance7.html

As we get ready for the publication of To Defy A King, Thea and I will be preparing a new look for the website. We're only discussing ideas at the moment, but look out for new colours and easier navigation.

As one door closes, another opens. Sadly, I lost my younger cat Dottie a couple of months ago. She was 13 and had been unwell for a few months. She hated dogs. Our older cat, Jasper doesn't mind them. Some of you may have seen on Twitter that I thought his time had come, but having seemed at death's door, he has rallied, scoffed a plateful of rabbit and is back to wobbly normal at the moment (he's 19). Anyway, with Dottie gone, we are going to have a new puppy for our old dog Taz to bring up and show the ropes. He's a Patterdale Jack Russell cross, therefore a 'patterjack' and he will probably be called Merlin, although we're still discussing names. Photographs to follow as and when.
