TRAILER OF THE WILD HUNT

My first published novel, the award winning The Wild Hunt is re-issued this next week. I've given it a thorough re-edit and it's now available from online sellers and in most UK bookshops. To mark the event, I've made one of my trailers.

In other news my contracts from Sourcebooks have arrived, so that's another step on the way to
USA paperback and electronic publication.

In the not too distance future I hope to have some news about UK appearances at library events next year, so watch this space. Arrangements are being sorted at the moment.

Time of Singing Alert

This is just a note to say that I've had sales numbers in from my editor re The Time of Singing.
It's selling very well and if the momentum keeps up, then it'll be due to to go into reprint soon. However, if the timing isn't spot on, it may not be available for a couple of weeks. So if you're thinking of buying a copy as a Christmas present, do it sooner rather than later while there are still first printing stocks. This isn't a marketing ploy - honest! - it's just that I don't want anyone to be disappointed and sometimes deadlines with printers etc can go pear-shaped!

Published Today!

A brief note to say that THE TIME OF SINGING has officially been published today. I thought it had been put back to the 16th, but not so...
It's been selected as Historical Book of the Month at the Books Monthly website here.
http://www.booksmonthly.co.uk/historical.html

FUTURE PROJECT!
As many readers know, I am currently writing the story of Mahelt Marshal and Hugh Bigod which is loosely linked in to THE TIME OF SINGING. When I've finished this though - due to be handed in next summer, I thought that folk might like to know my next project is going to be Edith Swan-Neck and her relationship with Harold Godwinsson. I met her this afternoon during an Akashic Record session and she's going to be one fabulous lady to write about!

Amazon UK is now selling The Time of Singing

A brief note to say that although the official publication date for The Time of Singing is now October 16th, Amazon UK has started sending out copies today!

In other news, my revamped website is coming along very well and will be ready to go live soon!

New video for A Place Beyond Courage

I decided the teaser trailer for A PLACE BEYOND COURAGE was a bit rambling and long-winded so I've replaced it with this one - half the length, shorter and snappier.

Update on THE TIME OF SINGING

Just a couple of quick updates on The Time of Singing.
The publication date has been put back a fortnight to October 16th -same as A Place Beyond Courage. This is to do with press release schedules and admin blah from the publishers. I've had my advance copies and it's ready to go, so there isn't a problem.

The Books Monthly review website has chosen The Time of Singing as its best historical novel for October. The review isn't up yet, but it will be soon. I'll post the url as soon as the piece appears.

I am going to be slaving over a hot cauldron in Sherwood Forest on Sunday 28th October with Regia Anglorum, so if anyone wants to meet a hot and bothered author getting to grips with bacon pottage, come and say hi!

Yahoo, Yippee, and Yesss!!!
I have had an offer for The Greatest Knight and Lords of the White Castle from the USA to be published in paperback and electronic formats. The Greatest Knight will be published next Autumn (2009) and Lords of the White Castle in Spring 2009. I've only just heard about this from my agent but once the details are more settled and carved in stone, I'll let everyone know. If I drank champagne I'd be well down the bottle now. As it is, I'm sipping tea and eating chocolate digestives with a big smile on my face!

In other news, my UK cover of A Place Beyond Courage has been given a bit of added bling. I like it a lot (reaches for the tea mug and another biscuit). It has also been chosen as Waterstones Book of the Year - about which I'm really pleased.

New! I've just put my reference library online. Rather than have it lurking on my PC as a Word document, I thought it would be useful to give it a web page of its own!
http://elizabethchadwickreference.blogspot.com/

New! A Place Beyond Courage is an Editor's Choice for the forthcoming edition of the Historical Novel Society Review - yay! Url here. Scroll down to the 4th book.

The book covers for The Time of Singing and The Wild Hunt have just appeared at Amazon UK on their listings. As many of you know, The Wild Hunt is being reissued after a re-edit and after being long out of print. It was my first published novel and won a Betty Trask Award. 'The novel that saved me from filling supermarket shelves for the rest of my life'!
I've posted The Time of Singing cover on my website hub and my other blogs, but I haven't got around to showing anyone The Wild Hunt on any of my own sites until now. So here it is!

NEW!
I've taken down the old movie trailer for A Place Beyond Courage and put up a new one that's copyright friendly and a bit more polished than the clunky first one. It really should have Placebo's Broken Promise as the theme music but the fees were a bit steep - £2,500,so I've used 'Fair Maiden' from Royalty Free music instead - a snip at about £15.00.

WELCOME TO MY NEWS BLOG

WELCOME ALL!

I've started this section as a place to inform readers of breaking news, updates and general information about the novels. It serves a different purpose to my main blog Living The History, which contains more detailed articles and notes about the writing process. Url here:
http://livingthehistoryelizabethchadwick.blogspot.com/

The piece you're reading now is more about news flashes and quick-flick details.

SO, WHAT'S NEW OR NEED TO KNOW?
I am currently the guest author at the Book Club Forum. So if you want to drop by and ask questions, please do so! You'll need to register, but it's free and they seem like a friendly bunch. Url here: http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/
There's a chance to win a paperback set of my 3 Marshal novels, including the new paperback A Place Beyond Courage. Also a copy of The Time of Singing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm delighted to say that THE TIME OF SINGING is now on its final proof read. I've been researching and taking a break in Norfolk and have returned to find the proofs waiting my attention. There are now 2 extracts posted at my extracts blog. url here:
http://elizabethchadwicks.blogspot.com/
It has a gorgeous new cover, which you can see on the extracts blog and also on my cover blog blog here:
http://coveringthestory.blogspot.com/
The publication date is October 2nd in hardcover. They usually sell out fast as hardcover print runs are not large. I know many readers prefer to wait for the paperback, but just to make everyone aware that if a copy is needed for Christmas, do it sooner rather than later!

Trailer here:

Here I am with the dog at Castle Rising in Norfolk during the week of 7th - 14th June O8 while researching. The castle notice board said dogs had to be on leads. Didn't say that humans had to be attached!

A PLACE BEYOND COURAGE is published in paperback on October 16th. Sainsbury's supermarkets are keen to get behind it at the moment and it will be available from most bookstores and Amazon.co.uk Also The Book Depository will supply it anywhere in the world, free of postage, so if you hale from the USA or Australia it's well worth checking this out. Url here: http://tinyurl.com/jrhuz

I am currently working (when I can find the time she says!) on a new novel about William Marshal's eldest daughter, Mahelt, and her match with Hugh Bigod, eldest son of Roger Bigod and Ida de Tosney, stars of THE TIME OF SINGING.

I think that's all I need to say at the moment, but I'll update the page regularly with items that may be of use or interest to readers.

Back to the coalface!
